So, pack your bags, put on your best trekking shoes, and venture out to these trekking places in Hyderabad and reconnect with nature!

1. Gunrock Hill, Secunderabad:

Gunrock Hill’s rocky trail filled with boulders of different shapes and sizes makes it a perfect rock climbing and trekking place in Hyderabad. It is also an unofficial heritage site whose pinnacle houses the historic Gunrock Cantonment and a centuries-old water tank that supplied water to the area. One may either choose a stairway or follow a steep, stony path to trek to the top of the hill. Needless to say, adventure enthusiasts prefer the offbeat route and traverse the rocky path for that feeling of accomplishment they crave for. Carry water bottles/ energy boosters with you as you’ll be drained quickly during this trek!

2. Venkateshwara Gutta, Shamirpet:

Shamirpet, a suburb of Hyderabad, is a popular weekend destination with multiple resorts, a beautiful artificial lake, and a deer park. A hill called Venkateshwara Gutta situated just beyond the lake is what grabs the attention of adventures. Named after an ancient Venkateshwara Swamy temple on its summit, this hill has gradually emerged as one of the best trekking places in Hyderabad. You’ll see different birds, rock formations, little ponds, and green hills during the trek to the hilltop. The usually green rocky path turns even greener, rockier, and steeper after crossing a reservoir about halfway to the top! Visit the hilltop temple and soak up the peaceful morning/ evening hearing the music composed by temple bells and birds.

3. Ananthagiri Hills, Vikarabad:

Ananthagiri Hills is the place for adventure, religious, and nature tourism. While the unscathed beauty of this cozy hill station attracts nature lovers, the numerous thrilling activities like trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, and night camping lure adventure junkies. Also, the 400-year-old Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple perched on top of the hill is a popular holy site. There are two trekking routes through the woods, one starting at the temple and the other starting about a half kilometer from the temple towards Kerelli. The trek through the thick jungle offers scenic vistas of lush green hills, freshwater streams, lakes, and waterfalls. The sunset from the viewpoint on the hills is a sight for sore eyes!

4. Golconda Fort Trek:

While your enthusiasm carries you forward on any difficult trekking trail, the intriguing history and impressive architecture of the legendary Golconda fort keeps you going when it comes to the strenuous Golconda trek. The trail involves steep paths, hundreds of stone steps, and little rocks (of course, there are benches to rest for a while appreciating the architecture of the fort). As you go further and further up, you’ll be thrilled to see the surroundings dwindle and finally, when are up there, the sweeping vistas of the city take your breath away! Do visit Sri Jagadamba Mahakali Temple and two other mosques present in the fort.

5. Moula Ali Hill, Nacharam:

If you are a beginner looking for an easy trek in Hyderabad, Moula Ali Hill is the option for you! It is a dome-shaped hill with a hilltop Dargah, and thus is a popular religious site for Muslims.
