Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state of Telangana and a very important one. It is a metropolitan city, with a lot of scope for employment opportunities. It is also well-developed and people flock here in search of work. The downside? The cloggy and noisy traffic, the hustle and bustle of the people, and the general busyness of city life. You should think of taking a one day trip from Hyderabad, just to take your mind off your stressed life and relax for a while.

Here are some amazing ideas for one day trip from Hyderabad with your partner.

Osman Sagar

The Osman Sagar (“sagar” meaning “lake”) is located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, a favorite spot for the locals to spend some peaceful time with nature. Also called Gadipet, this lake is in fact a reservoir – that is, an artificial lake – constructed by the Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, to provide drinking water to the city. It was built in the year 1920.

Around the lake is fresh greenery – perfect for relaxation. The place is away from the noise of the city, so it is rather peaceful and quiet. Boating and other water activities are forbidden here, due to the fact that it is used as drinking water.

Nearby, the Nizam had built a resort named Sagar Mahal; now, it has been taken over by the Department of Tourism and converted into a lake resort.

Distance from Hyderabad: Osman Sagar is located 22 km from the city of Hyderabad.

Sanghi Temple

A visit to the Sanghi Temple is a great one day trip to Telangana. Being one of the offbeat places in Hyderabad, it was built in a combination of the Chola and the Chalukya styles of architecture. Would you believe it if I said that it was constructed as recently as 1991?! It is a religious complex that has one main temple and a few smaller temples, each dedicated to a different god.

This temple complex was built on a hill in Telangana called Paramanand Giri. It receives a lot of devotees from various places. It is owned by the Sanghi Group, a leading industrial group. It is a very popular pilgrimage center. The main temple is dedicated to the god of love and compassion,  Venkateshwara. Other deities in this temple complex include Padmavati, Durga, Shiva, Kartikeya, Rama, Anjaneya, Ganesha, the Navagrahas, and Ashtalakshimi.

Even as a tourist place, the Sanghi temple is quite well known. It comprises three tall gopuras and a Raja Gopuram, which can be seen from several miles away.

Also called Bhuvanagiri Fort, the Bhongir Fort is a 12th-century structure built on top of an isolated monolithic rock during the rule of the Western Chalukya king, Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya IV.

It is an extremely impenetrable fort and was raised to 50 feet above ground level. It is surrounded on the outside by a moat and consists of many trapdoors, an armory, and a large underground chamber. Its lakes give it the most spectacular look, and today, it is perfect for picnicking with one’s partner.

If you explore the inside, there is text written in a combination of Telugu and Kannada, and explains about the culture of the people in the region at the time, and its history. It was initially ruled by the Chalukya dynasty, built against attacks from the Reddis and the Telugu Nayaks. It was later snatched by the Kakatiya dynasty, before both were dissolved by the rise of the Bahamani Sultanate and the Vijayanagar Kingdom. Eventually, the Bhongir Fort came under the control of the Qutb Shahis of Golconda.

In this fort, there is a Hanuman temple that local devotees visit regularly.
